A poll by baby goods retailer My1stYears has revealed that Amanda Holden is the celebrity mum we’d go to for advice. The Britain’s Got Talent judge scored over a third of the votes!
Morning television presenter Holly Willoughby came in second with Victoria Beckham third. Katie Holmes was fourth on the list (yes, we quite like her without Tom), ahead of Myleene Klass and Angelina Jolie. Katie Price was last.
There are a host of mums we could turn to: Jools Oliver, Emma Bunton, Jennifer Garner, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jessica Alba, Meryl Streep… the list is obviously endless. So, what characteristics would you find most appealing in a celeb mum?
I can only speak for myself, but I appreciate a mum who ‘keeps it real’ – who’s not afraid to admit her mistakes and is ready to learn from them. I like a mum with a good family ethic and who has a great sense of humour – both essential to raising children (in my book).
And I definitely appreciate a mum who is ready to get ‘down and dirty’ with her kids; splash in the rain, play in the mud, spill the batter etc.
Warmth and generosity of spirit are also traits that would endear me to a mummy.
I guess that when it comes to celebs, we judge their character by what we read and what we see – which is most likely not always accurate. But that doesn’t stop us from having our favourites. I love knowing that in spite of fame and money, we are all people – parents facing the same joys and obstacles.
Even Amanda Holden has to get her baby to sleep and cuddle her when she’s sick.
