With the excruciatingly hot weather subsided and the first of the autumn leaves beginning to fall, the late summer and early autumn can be a fantastic time to head out into the garden with the children and get creative!
In fact entertaining young children during the autumn couldn’t be simpler, less expensive and more fun, as all you have to do is to retire to the garden and be creatively inspired by your natural surroundings.
If you are looking for Autumn activities for kids, take a look at the following great garden crafts to make with kids!
Recycle old toys
Instead of throwing out an unwanted old digger or a toy tractor that has lost a wheel, re-invent old toys by turning them into their very own little garden.
Go to town planting flowers, seeds and plants in old toys, just remember to drill some holes in them for the drainage.
Not only have you recycled what was previously junk cluttering up the house, inspired ‘green fingered’ children, spent a fun couple of hours in the fresh air, but you also now have a colourful new feature in the garden!
Plant pot candle holders
Turn discarded plastic plant pots into pretty candle holders by getting your child to paint them, place a wire handle securely around the rim and put an electric candle inside – it will have to be electric else the plastic will melt!
These creative candle holders will look great after dark, particularly at Halloween when they will create a slightly spooky effect.
