Admit it mums – the thought of your babs in a tulle tutu is just too much to bear. Those chubby legs strutting around in an attempt at grace – the impossibility of it is adorable.
If you haven’t yet stumbled across Babyballet, via conversation or the ever faithful World Wide Web; it’s a ballet programme for children aged 6 months to 6 years.
Classes are non-competitive, suitable for girls and boys, and are taught by fully qualified (CRM certified) dance teachers.
Children are split into the following ages:
- Twinkle’s Tots (6 to 18 months): The aim of the class is to allow the little children to increase bodily awareness and self-control with the aid of musical instruments, props, mime and singing.
- Tiny Toes (18 months to 3 years): The class expands on the principles learnt in Twinkle’s Tots – developing and exploring the ability to move, sing and dance but with the introduction of basic ballet principles.
- Mini movers (3 to 4 years): The class allows children to enhance their movement, singing and imaginative ability further. Classes focus on developing gross motor skills, basic ballet, rhythm and confidence so that children feel comfortable in their surroundings and in their own natural ability.
- Mini Groovers (4 to 6 years): Classes are competitive and are geared for children who would like to improve their ballet skills. Classes encourage and improve coordination, balance, self-control, rhythm, musical ability, posture and confidence to a higher level.
Babyballet also offers Tots Tap for wee ones who prefer to stomp (tap) rather than glide.
The Babyballet franchise operates all over the UK and prices per class range from £4.00 to £7.00 depending on your area.
