Ever wished you could step right inside the world of your favourite film? Tumblr user The Pixarist has accomplished just that, literally, by redesigning his bedroom to look just like the one belonging to Andy in Toy Story 3. (Toy box included, of course.)
You gotta see it to believe it.
“It’s the room that most of us grew up wishing we had,” The Pixarist writes on Tumblr.
Toy Story was the first Disney film to portray a more ‘realistic’ experience of childhood – albeit with a roomful of talking toys and the obligatory happy ending.
And for many of us, watching the franchise was one of the most memorable, magic times of our own childhoods.
The Pixarist’s project is, quite simply, that powerful desire to go back in time and be a kid all over again made manifest — right down to the most miniscule detail. The crescent moon bed, the scattered stickers on the desk, door and laptop, even the whiteboard – complete with Andy-esque scrawl – is all there.
The Pixarist and some like-minded enthusiasts spent around two years recreating the famous setting, visiting thrift stores for identical items to those in Andy’s original crashpad, and otherwise painstakingly constructing exact replicas from scratch.
The creator admits, “Yeah, a lot of work went into recreating Andy’s room. But you know what? My friends and I enjoyed every single minute of it. The extra work really paid off.”
With a pal like Woody to turn to when the job is done, who wouldn’t want a room just like this?
