Also as lentils are high in fibre, they can help prevent women becoming constipated with is a common ailment amongst pregnant women.

Fortified breakfast cereal

Fortified breakfast cereals are jam packed with folic acid, which as it helps reduce the chance of a baby being born with a neural tube defect, is recommended to be a part of every woman’s diet who is trying to conceive and during the first 12 months of pregnancy.

Fortified breakfast cereals are also high in vitamin B, which is an important vitamin for pregnant women to consume for the full nine months of their pregnancy.

Broccoli

Broccoli is bursting with both calcium and folate, essential nutrients to help nurture healthy foetal development. Asides being great for baby broccoli is a high source of fibre, vitamin C and antioxidants, meaning it will also help to keep mum healthy and free of colds and coughs too.

Eggs

Being high in both protein and amino acids eggs will provide essential vitamins for both you and your growing baby. 

Bananas

For women who are suffering from morning sickness and pregnancy fatigue, bananas can be their saving grace. This potassium-rich superfood  can help keep energy levels up and stave off sickness.
