What’s Halloween without a witch? And what’s a witch without her trusty cauldron?? Check out this spooktacular twist on a classic experiment; your little ghouls will love the results — a frothing, bubbling brew that’d make the wickedest of witchies cackle with delight…
What you need:
Baking soda
White vinegar
Washing up liquid
Green food colouring
Mini plastic cauldrons
How to make your magic potion:
1. Fill the cauldrons with baking soda and add a few drops of green food colouring.
2. Pour white vinegar into a jug and prepare for bubbling! TIP: If you are going to do this indoors, place the cauldrons on a baking tray to catch any overflowing potion.
3. Follow these instructions for each cauldron, one at a time: Pour the vinegar into the cauldron. Add one (tiny) squirt of washing up liquid, give the mixture a quick swish-swish – the handle of a spoon works fine – and watch as it immediately begins to fizz and bubble over. (Science rules.)
Post activity, the remaining green ‘stew’ makes the perfect prop for a Halloween shindig. Creeptastic, no?
