Mumsnet has launched a family cook book – great news for mums who want to give their children yummy food but barely have time to brush their hair let alone get the kids ready for school and meet work deadlines.
That’s right! – “Top Bananas” is designed for parents on a tight schedule; all of us, in other words.
With nutrition and healthy eating in mind, the book’s 120 recipes fit into twelve categories (Breakfast, Packed Lunch, Soup, Fast Food, Sunday Lunch, Veggies, Slow Cooking, One Pot Wonders, Cooking with Children, Party Food, Pudding and Baking), with ten recipes in each category.
Child and adult friendly, the recipes found in the book include: one-pot lentil chicken, speedy noodle soup, beef stifado, kid-friendly curry, rock and sausage rolls, the jammiest of tarts, ice cream cone cakes, frozen rhubarb and custard, the perfect chocolate cake, cowgirl stew, lunch box bars, frog soup and great balls of broccoli (a sure-fire way to get your kids eating greens).
Although words like ‘stifado’ (uh…) and ‘perfect’ can be slightly off-putting, all of the recipes have been tried, tested and tweaked by fellow mumsnetters so we can assume that ingredients are affordable, recipes are hassle-free and food is tasty (the 1.5 million-strong site has a reputation for having mums’ best interests at heart).
