For anyone with kids there are two words that describe the year 2014, and they are ‘Frozen fanaticism’. The parties, the paraphernalia, the passion…it’s been wild. But on a whole other level is the karaoke. “Let It Go”, far and above “Do You Want To Build A Snowman?” and “Love Is An Open Door”, has literally taken over school playgrounds, friend playdates and every corner on the street where a child so happens to be standing. It’s a phenomenon brilliant and annoying in equal measures. And parents aren’t the only ones who think so.
Even Jennifer Lee, director of Disney’s Frozen, is feeling the effects of a year’s worth of Elsa clones. Speaking to the Hollywood Reporter Lee said:
“A year ago, I’d meet people who, when they found out who I was, they’d say, ‘Oh, we love the songs! We sing them all the time.’ Now they’re like, ‘Yep, we’re still listening to those songs.’ I’ve gone from, ‘Thank you,’ to, ‘Sorry!’ “
So, just in case you forgot (ha ha); Frozen is the highest grossing animated film ever and, to date, the fifth highest-grossing film in box office history. That’s huge. Huge!
Are you sick of Frozen?
