Somewhere between conception and birth there’s a little – or not so little (aka seemingly endless, tortuous) – moment called labour. It usually ain’t pretty, or easy. And it definitely isn’t a bellyful of laughs.
Until now, that is.
Of all the hospital bag essentials you should remember for the Big L, a Chewbacca mask probably won’t make your list. Thankfully, Katie Stricker Curtis decided to do things differently, donning the mask she received for Christmas during her rite of passage into parenthood. The result is hilarious, and, befittingly primal – becoming a mum in a nutshell, right?
According to Today.com, the mum was trying everything to induce labour as she neared the end of her pregnancy: “My brother got me the mask for Christmas as a joke, hoping I would laugh my way into labour. So I thought it would be funny if I wore the mask during part of my labour,” explains Katie.
When the big moment finally arrived, she stuck to her plan. And then — thank you, Internet – Katie shared the video of her working through contractions Wookie-style on Facebook, along with the caption:
“Just because I’m about to be a mom doesn’t mean I have to grow up! Bwahahahahs never take life too seriously! Best Christmas gift ever!
Since being posted on January 2, the video had 102K views – who knew the actual act of giving birth could be so much fun!? Heh.
